 2025

November 13, 2025  beginning at noon –  to 1:30pm via zoom

New Mexico Book Association Workshopthe Pros & Cons of Self Publishing

Workshop description:

You have a great story all written out and now you want to see it in print. Should you take the time to send it directly to an agent or a publishing house?  If so…which one?  You’ve heard that the process can take a couple years, is it worth the time?  Should you think about going with one of the concierge publishing houses?  You pay them thousands of dollars up front and they make magic happen…or do they?  What about self-publishing…they say its much faster – but what are they not telling you?

During this workshop we will examine what a writer who chooses to self publish must know in order to be successful.  We’ll discuss print books, ebooks, and touch on audio books.  From pen to completed book (or story) we will consider both the creative and mundanely physical requirements of taking today’s most popular route to publication.
